Technology and Telecommunications Marketing
The name BIGfrontier has been linked with the tech sector since April 2001, when we conducted our first technology event that drew over 1,100 people, in Chicago. We have been immersed in the world of technology and technology marketing since that point, providing services to Wireless companies, IT consultancies, Startups, ISP’s, Web Developers, Software developers, Web 2.0 companies and Industrial Technology Manufacturers. Additionally we have been involved with companies that have addressed one of the most critical issues in manufacturing: extracting new value from an increasingly commoditized marketplace. We have worked with companies that have produced significant innovations for manufacturers: creating new efficiencies through data extraction, developing smart services initiatives and providing critical infrastructure elements. BIGfrontier does not deliver PR for PR’s sake. We will work with your company to insure that you’re able to monetize your exposure.
Our success in this space speaks for itself: many of our clients have received funding, been acquired or experienced record growth. We recognize that every technology and every company has its own unique story, and interweave that inherent piece throughout the delivery of messages across all medias. Please review our thumbnail sketches of client work to the right and you’ll find that above all the BIGfrontier Company Positioning Strategy – a compelling and easily understandable direction for each client – has been the unique element driving success in our campaigns. It is our ability to discover and develop this message that makes our capabilities different than other PR firms.
Hubris is the common flaw that undermines the efforts of most PR firms that claim to offer technology and manufacturing marketing services; hubris, in assuming that they actually understand the technology being marketed, the marketplace or what potential customers are looking for.
Today technology and telecommunications companies are faced with an ever competitive marketplace as more companies vie for coverage amidst a shrinking number of publications. The inability of numerous PR firms to understand how to market in this changed world has been documented with the Wired, Long Tail and LifeHacker PR blacklists (why not take a peek and see if a firm you have worked with or are considering working with appears on any of these lists). BIGfrontier not only takes the time to research and understand specific markets, adding to our breadth of existing knowledge, we also simplify technology oriented messages so that they are digestible and germane to the readers of general business and broader media publications.
For over a decade, BIGfrontier has promoted some of the country’s most innovative technology and manufacturing companies, delivering services across all levels of the business space. Our work, undertaken on behalf of many of technology companies, has helped create new categories, dramatically changed the way people work and taken obscure technology innovators to market prominence.
Here are a few of the companies we have worked with:
Acquity Group: Helped company grow 1000% in five years: Case Study

Concourse Communications: Relaunched company; later acquired by Boingo Wireless

Halock Security Labs: Developed positioning and launched company
A hybrid services firm, Halock Security Labs addresses both the strategic and technical security needs of its clients. BIGfrontier helped Halock develop its “purpose driven security” market message which has been used to differentiate itself and attract many Fortune 500 clients.
nPhase: Helped company define and dominate a category, later acquired by QualComm then Verizon: Case Study
BIGfrontier began working with nPhase prior to its launch, in 2002. Our driving goal was to standardize the term M2M, which meant, variously, Machine to Machine, Man to Machine or Machine to Mobile, and position nPhase as the preeminent driver within the space. A steady stream of speaking opportunities, extensive media exposure, industry awards and targeted events have helped this start up grow into a viable player that has pioneered a niche within the manufacturing marketplace. In late 2006 nPhase was acquired by Qualcomm and the BIGfrontier relationship was maintained.
Mercantec: Conducted extensive trade show marketing
Internet and web based e-commerce shopping cart software solutions for businesses of all sizes. Worked with the company on national trade and consumer media relations and extensive trade show exposure.
MidPhase: Relaunched company; company later acquired by UK2
A budget, shared and advanced hosting provider delivering innovative solutions for any business seeking a professional online presence. BIGfrontier helped MidPhase relaunch and achieve a market share of well over 100,000 users. Company was acquired by UK2 and BIGfrontier relationship maintained.
ProvisionX

Remington Associates
Assess, recommend, design, and implement solutions and offers a risk management program addressing all aspects of information security. Conducted local media relations and events.
Single Hop: Launched company
